The top Candidate is Jalen Hurts who has stated for the Crimson Tide the last 2 years, in those 2 years as the starter Hurts threw for 4,861 yards, 40 touchdowns and only 10 interceptions. Jalen Hurts has also added 1,809 rushing yards with 21 rushing touchdowns.
Tua Tagovailoa is the other candidate to start for Alabama, Tua is now a sophmore who in his first year as Hurts backup played in 8 games throwing for 636 yards and 11 touchdowns with only 2 interceptions. Tagovailoa also started the second half of the National Championship game against Georgia with Alabama trailing 13-0, leading Alabama back and eventually winning the game in overtime 26-23. In the game against georgia Tua Tagovailoa thre for 166 yards and 3 touchdowns. Jalen Hurts only completed 3 passes for 21 yards.
My guess is Nick Saban will end up deciding that the Starter will be Tua Tagovailoa. All Summer it seems as if Hurts and Saban Have been at odds with each other. However if i was the head coach at Alabama (lol) i would go with Hurts who has proven he can lead this team to the National Championship game as he has done the previous 2 years. Hurts is better on the ground, doesn’t turn the ball over (only 1 interception last year), and is a veteran leader for this team.
