UFC 227 Predictions

These are my UFC 227 predictions.

Main event T.J. Dillashaw vs. Cody Garbrandt II

This is a rematch of the first fight which happened at UFC 217, a fight which Dillashaw won by 2nd round knockout. The first round mostly went in the favor of Cody Garbrandt as he used his hand speed and combination punching to win striking exchanges against dillashaw eventually dropping Dillashaw late in the first round with a right hook. Dillasahw was able to survive the late round knockdown by Garbrandt and stagger back to his corner after the bell rang, here in the corner between round perhaps the most important event of the fight happened when head coach Duane Ludwig told his fighter ” you don’t have to set up every kick you can blast the fucking kick if you want”. This advice proved to make a big difference in the second round as Dillashaw used his advice and was able to drop Garbrandt with a head kick in the second and eventually finish garbrandt later in the round winning the fight by knockout.

Now the rematch which will take place nine months later, i believe Dillashaw having the ability to use his kicks to keep Garbrandt out of distance for him to use his hand speed in return will be as it was in the first fight a huge deal. The question is can garbrandt and his training camp make the needed adjustments to change the outcome, something he seems to have never needed to do in his ufc career before as every other opponent he has fought has had no real answer to his boxing and power. Duane Ludwig seems to have the better ability to study opponents and make adjustments for his fighter than Garbrandts coaching staff which mostly consists of former fighters like Urijah Faber, Chris Holdsworth, and Danny Castillo. This in my opinion is the biggest reason to pick T.J. Dillashaw to win this fight, T.J. has throughout his UFC career shown ability to evolve as a fighter and always improve where Garbrandt seems to be a possible one trick pony who relies on his boxing to win fights. Dillashaw has already shown he can make the adjustments to beat Garbrandt and i don’t believe Garbrandt has the necessary coaching to be able to out smart a fighter and coach combination the likes of Dillashaw and Ludwig. Official Prediction: T.J. Dillashaw via 3rd round tko.

Co-Main event Demetrious Johnson vs. Henry Cejudo

Another rematch this one being over two years after the first fight, a fight which current champion Johnson defended his belt against cejudo in the first round by dominating tko. Henry Cejudo has shown improvement since the first fight against Johnson winning two fights against Wilson Reis and Sergio Pettis, but these two fighters are far from being the greteast champion in UFC history like Johnson is. My belief is Demetrious Johnson is just simply faster more technical and overall better fighter than Cejudo, and although Cejudo has improved more it will only be so much that its helps him last a tad longer against Johnson this time Official Prediction: Demetrious johnson via 3rd round Submission.

here are my predictions for the rest of the card.
